Infoteria Corporation was established in 1998 by President and CEO Yoichiro Hirano and Executive Vice President and CTO Yoshiyuki Kitahara.
Back in 1998, internet use among enterprises had just begun to take off.
Mr. Hirano and Mr. Kitahara envisioned a future in which businesses would leverage the internet and related technologies to connect systems inside and outside the company and accomplish various work-related tasks. The new XML technology had just been created in 1998 as a common computer language for these tasks, and these two men's belief in the huge possibilities of XML is the reason they started Infoteria.
This is how Infoteria was launched as the first company in Japan dedicated to XML.
We were well into our research and development before major software vendors announced their XML-focused strategies. The year after our founding we launched iPEX, the world's first commercial XML engine. In addition, given the need for training of engineers to spread the technology even further, we joined forces with major software developers to launch a system of XML training centers and the XML Master certification system for XML professionals.
Our wealth of technologies, especially XML, have culminated in ASTERIA, our data federation middleware solution.
Since its launch, ASTERIA has been adopted my more than 2500 companies, put to use in a wide variety of situations as an interface for the processing of vital corporate data. Today the applications of ASTERIA have expanded from data federation to master data processing, and it is also being used as a corporate data integration platform to support hybrid cloud computing.
With the evolution of the internet, the concept of cloud computing, in which software and hardware are hosted online, has become a reality. Infoteria has taken the initiative to offer products geared toward cloud computing, including Handbook, our smart phone-based content creation and streaming platform for enterprises and schools, and OnSheet, our browser-based online spreadsheet service.
Our corporate name and color
The name Infoteria is a coined word by combining the words “information” and “cafeteria”.
It means picking up right information from the vast amounts of information that exists in this world casually and easily.
We made this corporate name in the hope that we can provide products and services to realize the concept of “Information Cafeteria” that can be used all over the world.
The corporate color of Infoteria is “green”.
We chose this color to represent our ideas as below.
